Art, Geology and the Community

Gail Dickerson is a London-based artist, who studied Painting at the Royal College of Art. Her art practice involves the exploration of Art, Geology and the Community within the context of our everyday and the use of modern industrial materials. Explorations involve the texture of a material, an experience, and the layering of human concepts of mapping and planning. A recent project ‘Core Sample’ focused on the geological and human layers of London and the area of Elephant and Castle and a present project ‘Exposure Temporary’ uses geological samples from deep excavations along the Thames. Involving the collection of raw materials to make earth pigments or to sculpt or mould into shapes.

Gail has exhibited in multiple solo and group shows nationally and internationally. The three most recent exhibitions being in the Shaft at the Brunel Museum, in the Geological Society Library, and at the Deptford Creek Centre as part of Deptford X 2024 exhibition.
